Mineralet tilh\u00f8rer kvartsgruppen, har Mohs\u2011hardhet 7 og trigonal krystallstruktur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternativt brukes ametyst som en beroligende og intuisjonsfremmende stein. Den antas \u00e5 fremme dypt avslappende tilstand, bidra til bedre s\u00f8vn og st\u00f8tte psykisk klarhet. Mange opplever at ametyst hjelper dem med \u00e5 \u00e5pne sitt tredje \u00f8ye og kronechakra under meditasjon, og bruker den ved f\u00f8lelsesmessig ubalanse eller ved stressende tanker som trenger
